About The Website Road

The Website Road is a website for anyone who wants to create their own website. The goal is to guide you through the website jungle and help you make the right choices along the way.

About me

My name is Knut Gjertsen. I’m 30 years old, live in Norway, and I’ve been interested in IT for as long as I can remember.

I graduated from university with a master’s degree in IT back in 2012 and have been working with IT ever since. But actually, it was not until 2016 that website development really caught my interest.

Yes, that’s right, 2016!

I guess you might be thinking “2016?? This guy has no experience!”, but believe me, I was hooked! By now I’ve spent way too many hours doing research and trying out things on my own.

I really hope I’ll manage to pass on some of that knowledge through this website.

Why did I create TheWebsiteRoad.com?

When I first started out, I did like most of you have probably done already, googled “How to create a website”. The results I got was typically guides telling me that system X or system Y was the best way to create a website.

After a lot of trial and error I realized that neither System X or Y was a good fit for the website idea I had in mind, they just didn’t allow for all the customized features I needed.

I continued the research and tested basically everything I came across.

I eventually realized that there were actually quite a lot of options out there, but no guide that gave people like you and me the whole picture.

That’s when I decided to write down everything I had learned, so that you or anyone else reading this site, would have a better chance at making the right choices from the very beginning.

I basically ended up creating the guide I needed back in 2016.

Need my help?

Wouldn’t it be great if I could save you several hours of research by just answering a question or two?
